Conflict Interactions
Attempting to kill another player without a valid roleplay reason and appropriate interaction is strictly prohibited in Calico County will not be tolerated.
Verbal initiation is a requirement before any fight happens. This involves responses from all participating characters, communicating verbally of the intent to harm. Downing someone should be a last resort after serious RP initiation, not a first-response in an argument.
Additionally, a reasonable amount of time to comply must be provided for the other character to respond before harm is attempted. All players should feel agency within the interaction.
Conflicts should involve groups of no more than 6 players, and we ask that you consider appropriate escalation in group size. A 1-on-1 conflict does not necessarily need to turn into a 6-on-6 conflict, and it is always important to keep fight balancing in mind. Don’t roll up with 6 on a group of 2 - or if you do, break off and split up to ensure play is fair and in-character-balanced.
Fear for Life: When another character poses a high enough threat to yours, and you do not have a weapon in your hand, it would not be realistic to pull one out yourself; rather your character would likely comply rather than risk death. If you’re holding your weapon, you can attempt to escape by any means. If you’re in a town and yelling or running for help is something your character would do, that’s OK too. We’re aiming for realistic action ruled by the character’s mindset rather than the game-menu-mechanic of weapon drawing.
If you are not involved in a scene where fights break out, but one is nearby - think about what your character would realistically do. Most civilians would be running away from gunfire, not towards it, and letting the law handle it. Without a proper RP initiation into the scene, players should not be joining in on conflicts that are not their own.
As with any conflict RP, player-to-player robberies should be properly initiated. We want to see interactive RP prior to the person being tied and searched.
Robbers should take only what they reasonably can carry (no emptying someone’s entire inventory), and cannot knock unconscious the player they’re robbing unless the victim breaks hogties before the robber leaves the scene. At that point, the robbing player should clip & report the user for failRP, but keep that moment IC by knocking them out.
You cannot rob players when they are near blips on the map (to ensure that you’re not accidentally catching them in a menu), and you cannot camp outside of stores, tables, mining nodes, etc to attempt to rob players.
Players who are hogtied, bola-ed or blindfolded may not break out unless:
You are left alone for 3 minutes and there’s nobody from the scene around.
Consent from all parties involved
A friendly player is able to intervene and cut you free
You may never hogtie a player without proper interaction beforehand.
You cannot hogtie a player when they’re unable to defend themselves, for example in a menu or clothing store.
You may not knock unconscious any player in hogties if you have robbed them - if the player has not been robbed, then knocking them out in hogties is OK; but we don’t want to see both happening in the same scenario.
Injuries should be part of your RP. If you were shot in the leg, you wouldn’t keep running! Your character will feel the pain of their injuries, and they should act on the pain felt.
New Life Rule: Do not re-engage in a situation after you’ve been downed. If your character is downed, you have a few options.
If you choose to revive/respawn, you will not remember anything about what happened. You may not reference it or use it to re-engage.
If you are brought to a doctor or revived by a doctor, you will have hazy memories of what led to your being knocked unconscious.
We do not allow ‘double-tap’ or ‘body dumping’ to prevent medical RP from reviving the player in question. If your goal is to put them in the river to kill them, then make sure you get them back to the shore so doctors can reach them if called upon.
Additionally, if a character is already downed, we do not allow dismemberment or continued injuries. Knock the character down, then leave them be - we do not want any sort of visual injuries that become impossible to RP around. This includes removing limbs, burning, or otherwise disfiguring the character. We understand this can happen from normal game mechanics, but it should not be inflicted intentionally.
Permanent Deaths may only be done by the choice of the player behind the character. If you’re going to PK(Player Kill) yourself in an interaction, it will be by your own choice. Even in the cases of law enforcement interactions; while IC discussions may involve talking about hanging, we will never force a permanent death on a character until it is agreed upon via OOC means.
If you’re planning on PKing your character, please submit a ticket to let the admin team know OOC. That way, any properties, camps, or businesses you own can go up for purchase after your death rather than getting tied up waiting for repossession.
