Metagaming

• Metagaming is any use of out-of-character knowledge to influence your character’s story and interactions, and is not allowed in Calico County.

• It is OK to discuss game mechanics in the Calico County Discord - especially for new players! There’s a difference between ‘how to play the game’ information and ‘where’s the best town to find a blacksmith’ information. Please be wary of the difference and when in doubt, RP it out!

• The only in-character areas in Discord is the Notice Board, where players can submit flyers for their businesses and services. Other than that, all Discord information is considered OOC. The notice board should be used for business purposes primarily; be mindful of ‘spamming’ the board with personal posts that could be roleplayed out instead.

• OOC conversation cannot ever be used IC. If you learn something in an out-of-character moment between friends, your character cannot know that it happened until they find out through roleplay interactions.

• If you are in a Discord call with other players for social purposes while in-County, we expect that you will mute/deafen the Discord while in roleplay scenarios / around other characters. We will not allow any use of Discord communications to influence in-game scenarios - from fight callouts to general information sharing.

• We encourage our players to watch the Calico County RP streamers and content creators; giving them viewership is important for their growth and a fantastic way to support County creators! However if you’re playing in-County yourself and you have a stream open, please mute and ‘lurk’ on their stream, and refrain from sharing your in-game knowledge to them in their chat as well. That will help all parties - you, the streamer, and their viewers - avoid metagaming. Stream sniping will never be tolerated in Calico County.
